Dynasplint Systems, Inc., the pioneer and market leader in dynamic splinting since 1981, has helped more than three-quarters of a million patients restore range of motion.
What is your primary product or service?
The Dynasplint Systems are bilateral, spring-loaded tensioning devices that help to increase joint range of motion (ROM) to patients experiencing ROM deficits due to shortened connective tissue. They are available in extension and flexion and for almost every joint of the body.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
In 1974 Baltimore native George R. Hepburn, PT, launched his practice as a physical therapist. As he spent several sessions per week, he began to see a need for change and a better way to treat a common condition in the field of rehabilitative therapy called "contracture." A contracture can be the result of an injury, illness, or surgery and occurs when a joint becomes stiff and loses its range of motion.
On a Friday evening in June 1979, George R. Hepburn, P.T. took pen in hand and from a great idea created an incredible company…Dynasplint Systems, Inc. Based on seven years of clinical experience working in an acute general hospital, private physical therapy practice and nursing home settings, George envisioned a tremendous need for a sophisticated dynamic splinting system to treat the widespread problem of joint stiffness and contractures seen in nearly every clinical setting involved in rehabilitative medicine.
